Getting started

At Europcar we strive to make your car or van hire experience as simple as possible. Here we have put together various topics of useful information, advice and help related to your electric vehicle hire.

Ensure you have the key fob with you.

As you approach the vehicle, press the unlock button on the key fob to unlock the doors.

Once unlocked, you can open the doors and enter the vehicle.

Upon entering, sit in the driver's seat and ensure the key fob is inside the vehicle.

With the brake pedal still pressed, move the gear selector to 'D' (Drive) for moving forward or 'R' (Reverse) for backing up.

Release the brake pedal. If 'Creep' mode is activated, the vehicle will start to move slowly in the selected direction. If 'Creep' mode is deactivated, press the accelerator pedal to begin moving.

When you are in a safe and appropriate parking spot, shift the gear selector to P (Park). The parking brake will engage automatically.

If you have the key fob, press the lock button to secure the vehicle. If using Passive Entry, simply walk away with the key fob, and the vehicle will automatically lock after a few seconds. The door handles will retract (if equipped) and mirrors may fold in, indicating the vehicle is locked.

Ensure the vehicle is unlocked, then press the charging port door to open it.

Insert the charging cable into the port. The vehicle will indicate that charging has started, typically through dashboard notifications or indicator lights near the charging port. To stop charging, unlock the vehicle, remove the charging cable, and close the charging port door.
